LEAD MS plans October 14th ‘Day of Service’
On Monday, October 14, members of 2019 LEAD Mississippi will hit their communities to spread kindness and lead by example to demonstrate how credit unions put their ‘people helping people’ philosophy to action. LEAD, Leaders Engaging in Action & Development, is a program specifically aimed at the development of Mississippi’s young credit union professionals as future credit union leaders.
“We (the board of directors for LEAD) wanted to showcase the credit union difference on a statewide level,” said LEAD MS Chair-elect Christian Hartley, Keesler FCU. “Credit unions here in Mississippi are so giving and we wanted to take the time to directly impact the communities that we serve.”
LEAD MS’s day of service will be held in partnership with Minnesota and Illinois credit unions who will also hold a credit union day of service on October 14th. LEAD MS’s day of service will use the social media hashtag #CUCares and participants will also wear special t-shirts with logos and hashtags that bring attention to this special day of credit union community outreach.
“I loved the idea of giving back, taking action, in the communities that we serve here in Mississippi,” said Hartley. “The day of service was the perfect partner for the young credit union professionals of LEAD_MS to take part in.”
Members of 2019 LEAD Mississippi will be volunteering in various capacities at a children’s hospital, a homeless shelter, and building a home for a family in need.
“We’re so excited about our day of service, and hope to see continued growth and more credit union participation in the years to come,” added Hartley.
